About

You learn a sky by living under it.

In a new country the body has not collected enough data for its own weather radar. Glucose is the same. It takes enough readings before you can call the weather.

Logan Phippen

I grew up racing bikes in Ogden, Utah. The weekend after my 24th birthday, in 2016, I ended up in the emergency room and walked out with type 1 diabetes. I was back on the bike within a week.

Team Novo Nordisk, the professional team where every rider has diabetes, gave me a place on its development squad. In 2018 I took eight podiums, two of them wins. In 2021, at 29, I turned professional and made my debut at the Tour of Turkey. I raced for the team through 2025.

Racing for the team took me well beyond the bike. With Novo Nordisk I joined the first Tour de Diabetes across India, from Goa to Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, in the run-up to World Diabetes Day, and met families living with type 1 in China. With the World Diabetes Foundation I spent time with children and parents at a summer camp for kids with type 1 in Georgia, in the Caucasus. There a child asked me, "Does having type 1 make us special?" Looking around that room, the answer was yes.

All those seasons I rode with a sensor on my arm and a power meter on the bike, and the two files never met. So I put them together: eight years of training next to more than 500,000 glucose readings. What I found became the Blueprint Engine.

Today I live in Denmark. I'm assistant sports director at Team ColoQuick, and through Type1 Athletics I coach riders with type 1, so they get what I didn't have: their own record read back before the ride, instead of guesswork after it.

Type1 Athletics is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Novo Nordisk, Team Novo Nordisk, the World Diabetes Foundation or Team ColoQuick.

What you can count on.

Your control comes first
No gain is worth losing your grip on your glucose. If a plan makes your days harder to manage, it's the wrong plan.
Your instinct, sharpened
The numbers don't replace what your body tells you; they show you when to trust it. Every finding shows the data behind it, so you can check the reasoning yourself.
Nothing we haven't lived
Every method here was tried on Logan's own riding with type 1 first. You won't be asked to do anything that hasn't been done.
